Welcome to the Website of

This is Scout, the inspiration for Duffy in the mystery. Scout is eight years old . . . a mix of Jack Russell terrier and toy poodle. He is devoted, adventuresome and very popular on Facebook.

I got to meet Ann Bannon (right) at the Golden Crown Literary Society conference in Portland, Oregon, in 2014. She is a hero. Such a thrill to have a conversation with her!

Here we are in my Smokercraft boat, on Elk Lake in Central Oregon. Camping trip!

A good way to get inspiration for writing is to hang out with other writers. Such fun to spend a week with (left to right) M.B. Panichi, Jessie Chandler, and Laura Morrison at Lori L. Lake's annual Rockaway Beach writing retreat.

In the mystery, many characters come and go on these steep steps in the Cliffhouse.

Riley loves the Galiano sunsets, and so do I.

Yes, there really is an exposed stovepipe in the Cliffhouse bedroom!

These signs really do exist on Galiano Island.

Every April, I help organize and run a women's music weekend near Portland, Oregon. These are my pals who create it with me.
